Wallace + Perdomo Inc. Founded in 2002, Wallace + Perdomo, Inc. is committed to shaping the future of our communities through good urbanism and sustainable design. Working collaboratively in focused interdisciplinary teams and at varying scales – regional, community, downtown urban district and site-specific – W+P offers an integrated planning and urban design practice specializing in housing, neighborhood and community design. Combining Ms. Perdomo's extensive experience in traditional neighborhood design and new urbanism with Mr. Wallace's comprehensive knowledge in the technical aspects of project development, multi-discipline coordination and oversight, Wallace + Perdomo (W+P) provides a unique blend of creativity and pragmatism necessary to envision, realize and implement today's complex urban infill and redevelopment projects. With over 38 years of combined experience, current and recent clients include housing authorities, cities, the private sector, foundations and public/private partnerships.

Mark E. Wallace is Vice-President of W+P. Trained as an architect, he has the ability to comprehensively address architectural / engineering issues as well as urban design and planning projects and their interdependent relationships. Mr. Wallace's architectural and planning experience encompasses a range of project development from schematic and programmatic inception, through design development, coordination of all the engineering disciplines, and final implementation during construction. His experience in planning approval and project permitting ranges from City and County DRC, Zoning Commission, City and County Commission, water management districts, county and state environmental agencies, public works departments, state DOT, and building permit approvals.

Prior to founding this firm, Mr. Wallace's experience with Universal Land Development (ULD) combines his strong background in predevelopment and community approval processes along with his architectural and engineering expertise. His diverse experience also includes institutional and commercial architectural design and project management. He has also designed, coordinated approvals, and implemented construction of a variety of commercial centers, free-standing retail stores, and retail gasoline facilities in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, New Jersey and New York State. Grace Perdomo, Associate AIA. As President of Wallace+Perdomo, Inc., Ms. Perdomo oversees a diverse practice that ranges from neighborhood and downtown redevelopment to waterfront planning and urban infill projects. With over 12 years of professional experience, Grace's commitment to urbanism and sustainability, at both the local and regional scale, form the cornerstone of her practice.

Educated in architecture and urban design, her recent planning efforts include the adopted Phenix City Riverfront Master Plan for the City of Phenix City and the East Alabama Riverfront Development (EARD), a 501(C)3 nonprofit, public/private partnership dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Phenix City. She assisted the Lambert Advisory Group in the preparation of the New Orleans Neighborhoods Revitalization Plan (NRP), approved by the New Orleans City Council and accepted by the Louisiana Recovery Authority in November 2006 and was WRT's lead urban designer and planner for the City of Tallahassee's adopted Gaines Street Revitalization Plan including land development standards and design guidelines.

Since 1997, Grace has led numerous community planning efforts which seek to address social, economic, environmental, political, and physical issues, as well as build consensus and foster new levels of cooperation between various community stakeholders. Over the years, she has worked to develop and revitalize cities by transforming inner city neighborhoods and dilapidated housing areas into traditional mixed income neighborhoods and has worked with public, private and non-profit organizations in downtown and waterfront communities to create and implement sustainable new and infill mixed-use developments.

Prior to founding Wallace + Perdomo (W+P), Ms. Perdomo's experience with Wallace Roberts & Todd (WRT) combined her knowledge of the principles of new urbanism with the firm's innovative and successful track record in the redevelopment of public housing throughout the country. Through HOPE VI, Ms. Perdomo has assisted in the design, planning and preparation of more than eight successful HOPE VI applications for the redevelopment of inner city communities including Tampa, FL; Camden, NJ; Wilmington, NC; Chattanooga, TN; Columbus, GA; Birmingham, AL and most recently, the 2007 HOPE VI grant application for Stateway Gardens in Chicago, IL.

Grace serves as a guest critic and adjunct professor at the University of Miami's School of Architecture. She is current Chair of the American Institute of Architects' (AIA) Committee on Design Assistance which oversees the Design Assistance Team (DAT) program to bring together architect-led multidisciplinary teams to identify ways to encourage desirable change in a community. She recently led the Culver City, CA SDAT (Sustainable Design Assessment Team) and participated as a team expert on the Albany, NY SDAT. Download résumè >
